You should first try to resolve the contractual dispute with your retailer. For meter-related disputes, retailers will facilitate the resolution between consumers and SP Group. Retailers are expected to resolve all disputes within 30 calendar days upon notification. If you are unable to resolve any dispute with your retailer, you can approach the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) for advice and assistance. Alternatively, you can seek recourse through the Small Claims Tribunal for claim values not exceeding $10,000 (or $20,000 should you and your retailer agree).

You should only buy electricity from participating retailers when Open Electricity Market is extended to your area. The list of participating retailers can be found here.

Before you sign up with a retailer:

1. Ask for a Fact Sheet on your preferred price plan and a Consumer Advisory that outlines the important things that you should be aware of before signing the contract.

2. Look out for contractual terms such as contract duration, payment terms, security deposit, early termination charges and auto-renewal clauses.

3. Ask if there are any terms and conditions associated with bundled products or services.

4. Read through the contract, and ask the retailer to explain the terms and conditions if you do not understand them.

5. Take note of any fine print in the contract and keep a copy of the contract for your reference.
