Market Support Service Charges

The Market Support Service charges is to recover the cost of services such as meter reading and data management provided by SP Services (Market Support Services Licensee) as well as the Market Development and Systems Charge (MDSC). It is payable to SP Services, and Market Development and Systems Charge (“MDSC”).

The MDSC charges are based on approved rates with effect from 1 April 2024.


Transmission Service Rate for Use-of-System Charges

The Use-of-System charges, which is payable to SP PowerAssets, is to recover the cost of transporting electricity through the national power grid. Note that the charges differ according to the voltage at which a consumer receives the electricity supply. View the schedule of Use-of-System charges.


Transmission Loss Factors

Transmission Loss Factors are scaling factors applied at the metering point to account for network and transformer losses.

Refer to table below for the transmission loss factors for the respective loads. The factors are derived using the methodology approved by the Energy Market Authority.
