Consumers are not allowed to install their own advanced meters. SP Group is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all meters, including advanced meters for all consumers.

You can choose to retain your existing meter. Please check with your retailer on the cost of installing an advanced meter, if any.

A load profile estimates your electricity consumption throughout the day, based on the typical consumption pattern of households in Singapore. This statistically accurate consumption profile is routinely updated to reflect actual households' consumption patterns. Based on EMA's study, households exhibit similar consumption patterns, with consumption at its lowest around 1pm, and peaks at around 6am and 10.30pm. This profile is consistent across different premise types, and across different day types. Advanced meters, also known as smart meters or Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters, are digital meters which allow electricity consumption to be tracked at half-hourly intervals. The consumption data will be transmitted via a wireless network for billing purposes. They allow for electricity consumption to be tracked and read at half-hourly intervals. This will help consumers better understand and manage their consumption patterns. In addition, the consumption data obtained via these meters can also help retailers offer pricing plans that best meet the needs of consumers.

SP Group will endeavour to install the advanced meter within 1 month from receiving your request. Meanwhile, you can still start your contract using your existing cumulative meter.

During the advanced meter installation, there will be a temporary supply disruption of up to 30 minutes while SP Group is performing a change in meter. You will be notified in advance of when the installation will take place.
